Hi Corn Friends!
Summer has just started and I’m already deep into my movie junkie mode (again). I’ve taken in all of the latest summer action movies (X-men was great!) and I’m rewatching the Harry Potter movies with my boys in preparation of the final installment. Also, I’ve been spending my late nights watching a bunch of great, old movies I never got around to seeing or saw so long ago I don’t remember them (The Searchers, Chinatown, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Last Picture Show, The Astronaut Farmer). Even rewatched an old favorite: Monty Python and the Holy Grail. …And the great thing is, I got all of these movies at the LIBRARY! (plug) Check out this IMDB movie list and see how many of the top 250 you’ve seen and then see what your local library has available. I’m working on filling in the gaps of my cinematic knowledge (I’ve only seen 120 of the top 250). You might also want to check out this list of Academy Awards Best Picture winners and nominees . Happy Summer movie watching!
Also, a hearty Hello to the Jim Corn reader in Cocoa, Florida! Thanks for continuing to stop by and “see” you all next week.
Hey Michael,
Great stuff! I love the tee ball joke.
Also agree with you regarding the great, old movies. People tend to focus on the new releases and there are so many better choices available. (I have a lot on the “yet to see list” as well.)
Keep up the great work on the comic!
Thanks for the kind words, Mark!
Mark is also a cartoonist I’ve known since way back when we were aspiring young cartoonists. Check out his work at A Boneheaded Dog’s Blog. Sometimes he draws the cartoons, and sometimes his “dog” does!
