For my younger readers, this comic is kind of a spoof on Alfred Hitchcock’s creepy film, The Birds. Don’t worry, you can just wait for the remake that’s planned for 2013.
I originally used this gag in my first try at Jim Corn and finally I’m able to use it, though with some variation. You can see the original test strip on the Prankster Comics site.
See you next week for some serious happenings with these corn-lovin’ crows!
I almost think it would work without the “Flup” and “Flap” or even the speech balloon in there. I always like trying to remove as many words as possible unless I am being verbose to make a point with the character. I need to try a totally wordless comic soon. Nice work as always.
I kind of had a Don Martin thing going there with the sound effects, but I think you might be right. What does everyone else think? Are the sound effects too distracting and should I remove them? An easy fix.
You’ve got to hand it to a flock of crows who carry their own condiments! I love this strip, Michael. So much fun!
Not to be a BZZZZ fly in the SPLOIT ointment, but I think the sound effects work here. I like to use them whenever possible, after all what other medium will let us get away with it? And what would a Don Martin cartoon be without them?
Birds are smarter than you think. For example, this comic and Alfred Hitchcock’s “The Birds”!
